Unleash your Inner Lioness: Libido + Nutrition

Valentine's Day is quickly approaching, and I think it would be interesting to discuss the relationship between hormones, libido, and nutrition. Many people don't realize the close connection between sexual health and nutrition. What we eat and drink directly affects how our bodies function. Consuming unhealthy foods and beverages and not exercising enough can cause more harm than we realize. Making good choices for sexual health and nutrition can benefit our overall well-being, including our minds, bodies, and souls. By making better choices, we can improve:

  • Better sexual function

  • Better overall health

  • A higher sex drive

  • Better hormonal balancing

  • Improved fertility

  • A healthier weight

Maintaining a healthy balance of hormones and optimal nerve function is crucial for good sexual performance. To keep these in check, it's important to follow a diet that's rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes. Adopting such a diet not only improves sexual function and appetite but also has the potential to result in weight loss and fewer mood swings.

Improving sexual health and nutrition can have a positive impact on fertility. Maintaining a healthy weight through good nutritional practices is crucial, as obesity can negatively affect fertility, particularly in men. Apart from this, natural ways to enhance fertility include following a diet that comprises of:

  • Omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids

  • Low carbs

  • Low glycemic index foods

  • Antioxidants

  • Vegetable proteins

  • Skim milk (for men)

  • Whole milk (for women)

Regular exercise is essential for proper sexual function. It improves blood flow and increases stamina, leading to better sex and an overall happier mood. Fatigue and depression are common culprits of sexual complaints, but exercise can be an effective solution. By exercising regularly, we also release more endorphins, which trigger positive feelings in the body, similar to that of morphine. It's worth noting that while the food we eat may improve our sexual function we need to pair it with exercise for optimal sexual health.
